Our Favorite Wineries in Provence

Our Favorite Wineries in Provence

Between lavender fields, olive groves, and signature pastel villages, Provence is the perfect place to linger over a refreshing glass of something pink.

While rosé reigns supreme here, the best wineries in Provence reveal a full spectrum of styles. From crisp whites to structured reds, the deep winemaking tradition of Provence long predates its sun-soaked social media fame.

Whether you’re joining a Provence wine tour with Crush Wine Experiences or planning your own self-guided route through the Provence vineyards, Crush XP founder Sam Kimball shares a few unmissable wineries in Provence.

Château Gassier (Sainte-Victoire AOC)

Set at the foot of Mont Sainte-Victoire, Château Gassier is a masterclass in what makes Provence rosé so distinctive. The terroir here is all sun-baked slopes and cool evening breezes, giving the wines their trademark balance of freshness and fruit.

The estate’s Elevae Gassier rosé is as elegant as the setting: pale and lightly floral with distinctive notes of peach and acacia honey. One sip of this Grenache-Syrah blend (with a hint of Vermintino, locally called Rolle) lets you know this is one of the best wineries in Provence.

Château de Berne (Côtes de Provence)

With vines dating back to the Roman Empire, the acclaimed Château de Berne’s gorgeous estate is a sight to behold. Over 400 acres of vineyards surround the estate’s five-star Relais & Château hotel, with breathtaking views of sweeping lavender fields. Château de Berne’s limestone hills and valleys lend structure to their red wine offerings and delicate minerality to their whites and rosés.

Enjoy an unparalleled Michelin-star meal or a serene picnic beneath the shade of nearby olive trees. And don’t forget a tub of the body scrub made from the Château’s signature Grenache Noir for that Côtes de Provence feeling at home.

A note on our South of France wine tour: join us in May 2027 for eight days and seven nights of Provençal winery tours, private cooking classes, a visit to the historic Palais des Papes, and more. This tour is packed with unforgettable experiences guided by our friendly professionals with Crush Wine Experiences.

Château d’Esclans (La Motte-en-Provence)

Few names carry as much global clout in rosé as Château d’Esclans, home to the now-legendary Whispering Angel. Beyond the brand recognition, this estate remains a stunning example of Provençal winemaking heritage.

The 19th-century château is surrounded by old-vine Grenache and Rolle vineyards, producing both its signature pale rosés and more complex cuvées. A welcoming location for first-time visitors on a Provence wine tour, friendly staff delve into the winemaking philosophy that helped turn Provence rosé from a seasonal novelty into a year-round staple for serious wine drinkers.

Domaine Tempier (Bandol AOC)

For anyone who loves red wine, Domaine Tempier is sacred ground. Long before Provence became synonymous with pale rosé, Bandol was producing robust, age-worthy reds dominated by Mourvèdre. Tempier remains the benchmark: an earthy, soulful, family-run winery that captures the spirit of the region like few others.

Visiting the estate feels less like a formal tasting and more like being welcomed into someone’s home. The discipline of biodynamic farming and constant engagement with the terroir is immediately evident with every sip.

Château La Coste (Le Puy-Sainte-Réparade)

If art and architecture are as essential to your travel itinerary as wine, Château La Coste might just ruin you for all other Provence wineries. Spread across 600 acres north of Aix-en-Provence, the property is an open-air museum of stunning contemporary art tucked among the vines. This is where you spend an entire day wandering, tasting, and dining.

And the wine? Every bottle is a memorable model of Provence. Certified organic, the lineup leans toward mineral-driven whites and vibrant rosés that reflect the property’s limestone soils.

A Final Toast to Provence

Exploring wineries in Provence isn’t just about chasing the perfect rosé. It’s about connecting with a region that lives and breathes its terroir. From the sun-drenched coastlines to the rocky interior hills, every glass tells a story of place, patience, and passion.

Whether you’re joining one of our guided Provence wine tours or mapping out your own route through small Provence vineyards, the region rewards slow travel and open-minded tasting. Take your time. Ask questions. And when in doubt, order another glass. It’s probably pink, and it’s definitely worth it.
