If you’re looking for a destination getaway that’s just a few short hours away from the city, look no further than Lake George. Known as the original American vacation, the Adirondacks have been a haven for families all along the East Coast as the place to be during the summer season since the 1860s.
Lake George is still considered one of the best summer getaways in the Northeast and there is always plenty to do every season. Once upon a time there was a Vaudeville-themed amusement park called Gaslight Village that hosted various shows and carnivals, and provided good, wholesome family fun for almost four decades. Recently, it was renovated and restored into a public venue that has been named Festival Commons, and there are many different events and festivals hosted each season.
One of the first events to be held in the renewed Festival Commons was the Adirondack Wine & Food Festival which is coming up on its eleventh year on June 29th and 30th. Hosted by the Adirondack Winery, the festival honors the Adirondack’s best wines and tasty bites while allowing for a great platform for tourism around Lake George.
This year’s event has scaled from 90 to over 120 vendors ranging from breweries and wineries to cideries and distilleries. While the focus is on wine, with over 30 wineries attending, owner of Adirondack Winery, Sasha Pardy, recognizes the importance of featuring all of the local treasures the area has to offer, which is why the festival is a registered New York Farmer’s Market.
Food is a huge part of this festival, and there will be a culinary tent featuring celeb chef William Cornelius who will be doing demos using foods from the vendors on site, as well as pairings with Adirondack Winery’s specialties and even cocktail demos from the featured distilleries in attendance.
The main focus of the Adirondack Wine and Food Festival is all things local. All of the vendors, whether for beverage or food, are coming from within a couple hundred miles to bring their crafts to the gorgeous scene that is Lake George. This event intends to spotlight the fantastic offerings of the region while also allowing folks to engage in the tourism and local businesses of the area that may not be in the festival itself.
Experience the beauty and deliciousness that is the Adirondack Wine and Food Festival for yourself this year on June 29th and 30th at the Festival Commons of Lake George. Tickets are going fast so get yours now!
