5 Great Sauvignon Blancs for 2022

by Taryn Lachter

Sauvignon Blanc is known for being bright and refreshing, crispy and full of citrus.

In this day and age of innovative winemaking you’ll get to experience some really beautiful twists on this age-old French classic.

A quality Sauvignon Blanc can really be a defining feature of a great meal, and it isn’t hard to make a good one but it is easy to make a bad one.

A quality Sauvignon Blanc can really be a defining feature of a great meal, and it isn’t hard to make a good one but it is easy to make a bad one. There are some bottles of Sauv Blanc out there that give this beauty a bad name but none of those are featured here. All of these bottles are delightful and delicious and are perfect for a springtime treat.

Bridge Lane Sauvignon Blanc 2021

We love a classic delicious Sauvignon Blanc! Crisp, citrusy, makes you think of summer – that’s exactly what this bottle will bring you. Enjoy their cute branding too, which totally adds to the experience.

McCall Wines Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Named for the winemaker’s wife, this one was made with love and lychee. It goes a little beyond your classic Sauv Blanc flavors with that lychee sweetness, some tropical passionfruit and even those summer night aromas of freshly cut grass.

Les Jamelles, Sauvignon Blanc 2020

This wine is oh so very French, and you’ll feel classy as you sip it. It’s dry but bright and full of delights like strawberry and grapefruit, plus an interesting twist with more vegetal flavors like green tomatoes. It’s definitely best chilled and is wonderfully paired with fresh fish.

Beckmen Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc 2021

Beckmen likes to focus on sustainability and this Sauv Blanc is made with 100% certified biodynamic grapes! This one has a real personality about it with all kinds of sharp and outgoing flavors like lemon rind, grapefruit and dried herbs.

Macari Vineyards “Lifeforce” Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Also made of 100% Sauvignon Blanc, this bottle is a little lighter in color but lacks nothing when it comes to flavor. Enjoy a lightness accompanied by a pointed acidity that will brighten your palate and your day. Lemon and lime are complemented by the aromatic flavor of tarragon for a true picnic in a bottle.

Move Over, Cab: California Zinfandel is In It To Win It
It may come as a surprise, but Cabernet Sauvignon is not the original California grape. That distinction belongs to Zinfandel, which reigned supreme through the Golden State until Cab surpassed it in 1998. Grown in most of California’s 58 counties, Zinfandel isn’t content playing second fiddle to Cabernet any longer. With protected pockets of old - Read More

Decanters as Art: Combining form and function
Unsurprisingly, the word decant is thought to have originated around the 17th century as an alchemist term meaning – to pour off the clear liquid by tipping the vessel. However, some still argue that it derives from the French – décanter – to pour from the edge of a vessel. Either definition seems appropriate, as - Read More
