Northern Flow Vineyards is a small farm winery situated along the St. Lawrence River in the Thousand Islands region of Northern New York, about a two hours’ drive north of the Finger Lakes. It’s an exciting time for winemaking in the Thousand Islands. Recently, researchers at the University of Minnesota have developed new cold-hardy grape varieties bred to withstand extreme winters. These new hybrid grapes are resilient enough to thrive in Northern New York. Clay-rich soil helps retain moisture during dry summers and granite, limestone, and other minerals provide essential micronutrients.
