Adair Vineyards is located in the Historic Hudson Valley made famous by explorers, soldiers, and artists. Little known is the fact that wine growing was once a thriving industry along these Hudson River shores. The French Huguenots planted grapes in the Hudson Highlands in the 17th century and in 1870 a hundred tons of grapes a day sailed from Marlboro down to New York City. While wine making is not new to the area, it did fade in importance during Prohibition and did not, until recently, stage a dramatic comeback.
