Whitecliff is an artisanal family-run winery, created from the ground up over 40 years by its owners and founders. Today they have one of the region’s biggest vineyards and have brought home the Best White In Show award from the San Francisco International Wine Competition.

  • Establishing the vineyard has been an ongoing process since 1979.
  • It involves years of trial and error to determine which varieties will produce good yields and quality wine, while withstanding the cold winters.
  • The rigorous approach of science and engineering, along with a generous helping of pigheaded determination, has provided the knowledge and the strong base necessary to create a successful vineyard and winery.

  • Tristan is Whitecliff’s General Manager and Winery Cub Manager.
  • He is also a member of the winery’s founding family.
  • When introducing wines to new customers, Tristan says: “We try to be unpretentious about wine with everyone regardless of their knowledge base. When pouring for someone we ask what they usually drink—beer, cocktails, etc. Then we match that as closely as possible with the wines offer.
