Join us on Wednesday, November 1 as we explore a symphony of flavors perfect for Thanksgiving in a FREE virtual tasting that will celebrate food-friendly white and red wines from New York, in the spirit -- and menu -- of the season.  Four (4) outstanding New York wineries will present their wines: Thirsty Owl Wine Company, Boundary BreaksBillsboro Winery, and Montezuma Winery. Each one's selection will play a role in pairing with the traditional Thanksgiving meal: from appetizers to main courses to classic side dishes.  This is a golden opportunity to discover New York's best wines for your annual celebration of food, family, friends, and being thankful.

These four wineries are from the Finger Lakes region of northwest New York, which is known for its picturesque grouping of narrow glacial lakes—some of the deepest freshwater lakes in the United States.

The Finger Lakes have become known as one of the finest cool-climate winegrowing regions—especially for Riesling—in North America.

Boundary Breaks – 2022 Riesling Dry #239

  • What does the number, “239” refer to?
  • Each specific variation within a grape variety is referred to as a “clone,” and it is given a number like #239 or #198.
  • Within in a particular set of environmental conditions—or “terroir”—some clones are expected to do better than others.
  • When Boundary Breaks began planting in 2009, it chose to plant five different Riesling clones to see how they each expressed themselves at the Boundary Breaks site.
  • Clone 239 possesses a slightly more acidic character, and as such is suitable for drier styles.
