DAY 1: Arrival & Welcome Dinner

  • Arrive on your own in Naples and check-in to MGallery Palazzo Caracciolo in superior rooms, your home for the next 3 nights
  • Meet with Sam and our local guide for a short orientation talk, followed by a walk to a nearby historic pizza restaurant where we toast to the beginning of our tour with a glass of wine and the original Neapolitan pizza
  • This famous pizza style of involves using tomatoes either from San Marzano or Pomodorino del Piennolo del Vesuvio, which grow on the volcanic plains to the south of Mount Vesuvius
  • Pizza Napoletana is a traditional speciality guaranteed (TSG) in the European Union and the United Kingdom. The art of its making is included on UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage

DAY 2: EXPLORING NAPLES

  • Like all of Crush WineXP’s tour experiences, this trip is off-the-beaten-path.
  • Board a private bus and transfer to a different part of the old city where we meet a local expert guide and embark on a food tour in one of the most lively neighborhoods of Naples, combining history with local culture and culinary tradition.
  • Enjoy the freshest sardines, shrimps and calamari breaded and fried on the spot, served in the paper cone called “cuoppo”.
  • Then we are off to a bakery for the crunchy taralli, in a local restaurant for the pasta served with genovese sauce and a preparation based on vegetables. We end in a local pastry for the stuffed puff pastry and espresso coffee.
  • Free afternoon and dinner on your own. We will have lots of restaurant recommendations.

DAY 3: THE ISLAND OF CAPRI

  • Board a private bus and transfer to the harbor for the public ferry ride to Capri (about 1 hour)
  • Ride the funicolar (cogwheel train) from the marina up to the actual village of Capri
  • After a short orientation walk with our guide, it’s your choice to experience Capri at your own pace.
  • Following your tour leaders along a 20-minute scenic walk to a panoramic spot overlooking the iconic rock formations known as “Faraglioni”.
  • Outdoor lovers can consider a hike up to the ruins of a Roman villa (1 hour each way, uphill), or simply enjoy lunch in one of the charming restaurants of the island, before riding the funicular back down.
  • Public ferry back to Naples and private bus back to the hotel for a free night/dinner on your own.

DAY 4: SANNIO & SORRENTO

  • Check out and depart for Sant’Agata dei Goti (driving time 1h)
  • Take a stroll in this unique town built on top of a cliff, surrounded by two canyons Visit the underground cellars of Mustilli, the historic winery of the Sannio wine region.
  • Lunch paired with the tasting of 3 wines (Aglianico, Pedirosso, Greco)
  • Drive to Sorrento (2 hours) and check in at the 4-star Hotel Michelangelo in Sorrento (rooms with a view over the swimming pool)
  • Take a stroll with your tour manager all the way to the public gardens of Sorrento for the iconic picture overlooking the bay of Naples and the Vesuvius.
  • Tonight dinner is on your own in one of the many restaurants and pizzerias available

DAY 5: POMPEII & VESUVIUS

  • Drive to the archeological site of Pompei (1 hour) Distribution of headsets
  • Meet our local expert tour guide and embark on a journey back in time as we discover a Roman city frozen in time.
  • Drive to a winery located on the slopes of the volcano, on the edge of the Vesuvian National Park (Sorrentino Vini)
  • Lunch is served on a panoramic terrace overlooking the vineyards and the dark ash- like soil where local grape varietals such as Aglianico, Piedirosso and Falanghina are grown
  • Drive back to Sorrento (1 hour) and have dinner on your own.
  • We will be available for recommendations and reservations.

DAY 6: BUFFALO MOZZARELLA & AMALFI WINE

  • Drive to the southern Campania region (1h 40’)
  • Visit a buffalo mozzarella farm and discover the secrets of ancient cheese production
  • Enjoy a light lunch with a selection of mozzarella, fresh vegetables, local bread and buffalo milk gelato
  • Relax as we transfer by bus to Vigne di Raito, a small family-business located on the highest slopes of the Amalfi Coast
  • Take in the views of blue Mediterranean as we walk through the lemon groves that bloom twice a year and we reach the vineyard of this family-owned business
  • Wine tasting focused on Amalfi DOC, paired with five small tastings of locally sourced foods
  • Drive back to the hotel in Sorrento (35 min)
  • Free evening for dinner on your own

DAY 7: AVELLINO WINES & HISTORIC SALERNO

  • Drive to the Avellino wine region (2 hours)
  • Visit a wine producer focused on Fiano di Avellino and Greco di Tufo Enjoy a wine tasting paired with lunch
  • Drive to the city of Salerno (45 min).
  • Stroll the city, and discover its historic sites and beautiful sea views.
  • Dinner on your own in Salerno. We will be available for recommendations and reservations.
  • Drive back to Sorrento (45′)

DAY 8: AMALFI COAST, POSITANO & FAREWELL DINNER

  • Drive to Positano and enjoy the breathtaking views of the coast
  • Stroll on the flights of steps that lead to the beach, exploring art galleries, ceramic shops, and boutiques with the iconic white-linen fashion of the coast
  • Continue driving to Amalfi
  • Free time for shopping in Amalfi among paper shops, souvenir stores and lemon products sellers. We recommend the pastry at Pansa to indulge in one of the best “delizia al limone” of the Campania region, a sponge cake filled with lemon custard and dipped in lemon cream
  • Drive back to the hotel (1 hour 15’)
  • Gather for a group farewell dinner at a restaurant in Sorrento

DAY 9: ARRIVEDERCI

  • Group transfer to the Naples airport.
  • Individual transfers are available for an extra charge and require advance booking.

  • He has traveled to Europe frequently on cultural and wine excursions to some of the continent’s leading wineries, including trips throughout Italy.
  • He knows the wines, cuisine, and local culture of Campania
  • As a wine professional who owns a wine retail store in the U.S., he brings added insights to the wine experience on the tour.
