Overview

Join us for a fall virtual tasting with Lothian Vineyards. Located in Elgin, South Africa, Lothian is distinguished by nature and built on heritage from both Scotland and the Cape Winelands. Due to Elgin’s high altitude and proximity to the cold Atlantic Ocean, the valley’s cool environment permits a predominantly non-interventionist approach to winemaking. Working in harmony with nature and the integrity of the fruit, they craft elegant and exquisite award-winning complex wines with a true sense of the Lothian terroir.

South African Grapes

  • Working in harmony with nature, the grapes are harvested by hand at the optimal moment for full flavors before being transported to our winery.
  • Handled as minimally as possible, the integrity of the fruit is maintained, allowing the winemaker, Richard Kershaw (Master of Wine), to craft elegant and exquisitely complex wines
  • Timeless and age-worthy, they reflect the unique climate and terroir of Lothian Vineyards.

A Piece of Scotland

  • Originally from Scotland and hailing from three generations of Cape winemakers, the Wilson family grew up on their grandmother’s Rust en Vrede vineyard in the 1950s and 60s.
  • Raised with a dedication to excellence, one can see Gavin and Ewen’s values reflected in their authentic and traditionalist approach to Burgundian-style winemaking.

Lothian House

  • On the Lothian property lies Lothian House, a breathtaking house that is a decadent escape for anyone looking for an exceptional Cape vineyard experience.
  • This countryside architectural wonder boasts uninterrupted views with endless vistas of Lothian’s vineyards, orchards, the private Applethwaite Lake, Palmiet River and the mesmerizing Elgin valley mountain-scape.
