Overview

In this virtual tasting, we will get to know Olde York Farm/Cooper’s Daughter Spirits,  a woman-owned and family-operated distillery and cooperage located in Claverack, NY. The owner will demonstrate mixing two (2) delicious cocktails. Grain and fruit used for distillation are grown right on the property in the Hudson Valley to make seasonal batch spirits.

FULL OF HISTORY

  • The distillery is part of the historic Jacob Rutsen van Rensselaer House & Mill complex. Rensselaer also had his own distillery and cooperage circa 1805.
  • Today the distillery and cooperage resides in Rensselaer’s former carriage house.
  • Handmade barrels, made on-site, are used to age bourbon, whiskey, and brandy.

In the session, owner Louise Newsome will show us how to make two (2) custom cocktails that are featured at the distillery tasting room:

  • Night Sky Sour: 2 oz Black Walnut Bourbon, 1/2 oz Black Currant Liqueur, 1/2 lemon
  • Darkness: 2 oz Cacao Maple Vodka, 1/2 oz Black Currant Liqueur, Chocolate Bitters
